Paddle Route: This year's event features two paddles, a Family & Beginners' Paddle in the morning and the Yee-Haw! River Paddle in the afternoon. The morning paddle will be held on Saxapahaw Lake, which features calm, flat water ideal for families and new beginners. Free boat rental for this portion of the paddle is sponsored by the Haw River Canoe & Kayak Co., Three Rivers Outfitters, and River Run Outfitters. Please no personal boats for the Family and Beginners' Paddle.

The afternoon paddle route begins at Saxapahaw Mill Race Paddle Access and ends at Union Bridge Paddle Access, the newly opened and final HRT Paddle Access in Alamance County. This 5-mile section of river is appropriate for intermediate paddlers, featuring moving water and intermittent rapids with beautiful views of the river and its wildlife.  It will take approximately 2-3 hours to paddle this section.  Click here for the Paddle Trail map.

Cost: $20 for adults; $10 for kids 12 and under

Parking and Registration Location: All participants should park at B. Everett Jordan Ball Field (5827 Church Rd, Graham, NC 27253). Please follow directional road signs on the day of the event. The check-in booth will be located behind Haw River Canoe & Kayak Company (6079 Swepsonville-Saxapahaw Rd, Graham, NC 27253). Shuttles will be provided from B. Everett Jordan to the check-in area.

Participants in the Family & Beginners’ Paddle will walk from check-in to Saxapahaw Lake, where they will be paired with boats by the outfitters.

If participating in the afternoon YeeHaw! River Paddle, please enter the parking lot behind Haw River Canoe & Kayak Company to drop off your boat(s) near the check-in area, then park at B. Everett Jordan Ball Field. You will then be shuttled back to the check-in area where you will need to check in at the booth. Staff will be supervising the check-in area at all times. Return shuttles for participants & their boats will be provided at the end of the paddle from Union Bridge Paddle Access back to B. Everett Jordan Ball Field.

Boat Rentals: Paddlers for the Family & Beginners’ Paddle do NOT need to contact an outfitter prior to the event- you will be matched with a boat at the event.

Paddlers participating in the afternoon Yee-Haw! River Paddle should bring their own boat, or contact one of our participating outfitters (Haw River Canoe & Kayak Company, River Run Outfitters, and Three Rivers Outfitters) in advance of the event to arrange a rental. There will be very few additional boats available for rental on the day of the event.

*Note: The participating outfitters will be on-site with their rental equipment- if you are renting from a participating outfitter you will not need to transport your boat. Please make your rental arrangements in advance of the event.
