Your Support is Key
Community involvement is critical to our success. If you are interested in supporting the trail, please take a moment to explore the various options below. We accept donations, sponsorship through the 5280 Club, volunteer work, and sponsorships for our trail benefit events. Donations and sponsorships are tax deductible.
Your name, or the name of your business, will be displayed on a sign at the trailhead/paddle access that provides access to that mile of trail. You will receive a certificate and a photo of your chosen mile of trail
If you would like to join the Club, have a look at our Paddle Trail mile map and choose your favorite mile. Please contact us with your chosen mile and we will help you complete the sign up process.
The Haw River Trail
3916 R. Dean Coleman Rd.
Burlington, NC 27215
Each year the Haw River Trail holds two benefit events to raise funds that support the Trail. The YeeHaw! River Paddle is held in May and includes both a Family & Beginners’ paddle for new paddlers, and a more challenging paddle for those with some experience. The Trailathlon, held in November, is a multi-sport adventure race with a paddle, bike, and trail run component.
Each year the HRT seeks new partners to join our returning sponsors in helping to support these events. Sponsorship funds help defray event costs to ensure that participant registrations can go towards supporting the Trail.
If your business is interested in sponsoring the YeeHaw! River Paddle or Trailathlon in the coming year, please contact us.

There is also a dedicated task force that is devoted to trail building. The Friends of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail (FMST) helps to build and maintain sections of the MST throughout NC. The Haw River Trail Task Force is the local group that holds trail work days throughout the year, as well as hikes and special events on the Haw River Trail. Newcomers are welcome at FMST workdays and all the tools and equipment you need will be provided.
If you would like to be added to our volunteer list or join the FMST to build trail, please contact us.
